Install the fire alarm

You can install wireless or wired fire alarms.
Note: The maximum recommended screw size is 5x25.
If you intend to install a wireless fire alarm, there are four areas in the pod where you can install the alarm. The sizes of the installation areas for the wireless alarm are:
  1. 800 mm x 160 mm (31 1/2 in x 6 5/16 in) in the left corner at the back of the ceiling
  2. 700 mm x 160 mm (27 9/16 in x 6 5/16 in) in the right corner at the back of the ceiling
  3. 400 mm x 160 mm (15 3/4 in x 6 5/16 in) in the left corner at the front of the ceiling
  4. 400 mm x 160 mm (15 3/4 in x 6 5/16 in) in the right corner at the front of the ceiling

If you intend to install a wired alarm, there is one area at the back of the pod where you can install the alarm. The size of the installation area at the center back of the ceiling is 280 mm x 170 mm (11 in x 6 11/16 in).

If you intend to install a wired alarm, follow these instructions.

  1. Remove the roof body covers at the back of the pod.
  2. Remove the light.
  3. Cut a notch in the ceiling felt under the light at the back of the pod for the electrical wiring. Use a utility knife.
  4. Install the fire alarm with 4x20 mm (#8 x ¾ in) screws through the ceiling felt.
  5. Guide the electrical wiring for the fire alarm through the notch.
    Note: Make sure that the wiring can move freely and that it is not stuck between the edge of the light and the ceiling felt.
  6. Guide the electrical wiring under the light.
  7. Guide the electrical wiring out of the hole in the roof cover panel.
  8. Reinstall the light.
  9. Cut a notch in the roof cover panel for the electrical wiring.
  10. Reinstall the roof body covers.
